Hey all....

So, I want to start by THANKING everyone (well, except that one annoying blonde bimbo in the skimpy dress that barely has a grasp on the English language let alone French…I digress) that came out for the opening of “Raison D’etre” at the Cindy Lisica Gallery in Houston, TX. and all your very kind words. It was a great time and I appreciate all the support. Again…the show will run until November 11th, 2017. I wanted to to THANK everyone that stopped by the booth for all their kind words about my work, as well as Art Market Productions for all their support. Talk soon.

Hey there

So….I just wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU to every single person that came out to the opening reception for my show “Xylotheque” at the Cindy Lisica Gallery in Houston, TX. I really appreciate your time and all the very kind words about my work. Houston is a great town, and I had a great experience there. I might even actually think about living there….if it wasn’t so DAMN HOT! I finally got to go the MFAH, the CAMH, and The Menil Collection and bask in some amazing artwork. I would like to also take a minute to THANK Cindy. Not many gallery owners would let an artist “make a right turn in their work”, have such a free reign to do “their thing” and then take a chance showing such new work, unseen. HUGE THX to #Dr.Alan #Andrea #Felipe, couldn’t have done it without you kids!! THX to #BarbaraDavis #Savannah #Owen #DavidShelton #AnyaTish for your hospitality and being so nice to me. Okay, so the show will be up until September 2nd, swing by and see it if you get the chance. & last but not least….Here is a panoramic shot of the show installed in the gallery. Take care.

Hello….

Long time, no see Folks! Welcome to the “new” website. Yeah, I know it’s only slightly different than the old one, but it will also be expanding and evolving over the next few months or so as well. You’ll see. lol. The past few years have seemed like one long, on going surreal transition with some prudent ups and downs interspersed in-between. There has been little regrouping, some modifying and even some cliché soul searching. Yet, I can honestly say that the motivation / need to create is running higher and feeling fresher than ever for me. As for on the “work” side of things, lately I have been doing some new, slightly “different” types of pieces than normal. I will also be having an exhibition of said pieces coming up at the Cindy Lisica Gallery in Houston, TX. The show is titled “Xylotheque” and will run from July 15th - September 2nd, 2016. The opening reception will be Friday, July 15th from 6-8:30pm. The gallery is located within the 4411 Montrose art complex, in the museum district. If you’re interested in any of the work you can contact Cindy at: cindylisica@gmail.com or 713-807-7760. Please check out the show if you live close by or just happen to be in Houston this summer. Here are a few progress shots to wet your whistle. I promise to stay in touch this time and you can also follow me on my Instagram or my tumblr. A million+ THANK YOUS to everyone that has continued to support me and my work. Appreciate it so much. Best.

Hi

Okay, well...let’s start by saying I hope everyone had a nice “Holidays” and that your “New Year” is going swell so far! Yes, it has been a while since there has been life around here. For that I am sorry. Let’s just say 2013 wasn’t my best year on record and I’m happy it’s over. There are currently a lot of things up in the air these days and are in the process of being sorted out. I’m currently in “Regrouping Mode” and am undergoing some professional & personal transformations as we speak. Ha. The website is being totally redone and will have an all new look, updated work, a store & a bunch of other “Bells & Whistles” I have promised in the past, except for reals this time! I would expect it to launch in the next month or so!? Also, I’m currently in my studio plotting, planning, and sketching for a new body of work for 2014-2015 and am very excited and motivated. Check back soon for the updates and you can always “follow” me a tad closer on my Facebook, Tumblr, or Instagram. Lastly, here is a pic of “This Is A Pipe No.1” framed up all fancy like and in it’s new home! Enjoy Andreas! & as always, “Thank You” to everyone that has supported me and my work in any way thus far, it’s much appreciated. Talk soon.

Salutations People

Well, it’s “that time” of the year again...my solo exhibition “Paintures” @ Spoke Art in San Francisco, CA. is rapidly approaching and I am currently putting the finishing touches on all my NEW pieces, giving them the ‘ol once over, the ‘ol this & that, the ‘ol spit, shine, & polish. Anyhoo...I digress, the show will run from July 6th – July 27th and the opening reception is: Saturday, July 6th from 6-10pm at the gallery. The show will consist of about 10 (give or take 1 or 2) NEW larger wall pieces and will be kinda, sorta, not really, a slight departure from my usual work. So, if you live in or around the SF / Bay Area or just happen to be visiting there for the month of July you should really try to make it to the opening, and if not, at the very least swing by to check out the show. All the pieces will be available for pre-purchase or purchase. If you have any questions or are looking for additional information, please feel free to contact: Ken Harman @ 415.796.3774 or at: kenharman@gmail.com. Below is the Ad for the show featuring a detail shot of one of the NEW pieces titled “200 Progresso Soup Cans”. I will be posting a few more detail / sneak peak shots in the next week or so...so stay tuned for those. Oh, and “following” me on MY TUMBLR is always advised. Back to the lab. Without a drill to grab.

Hello

Okay, okay, okay....It has been a minute or two since we last spoke hasn’t it!? Not much going on around these parts besides work, work, work. The new studio is just perfect and has been being put to heavy use while I get ready for my solo show at Spoke Art in San Francisco, CA. this coming July. In the meantime, I wanted to let everyone that lives in the SF / Bay Area of California know that I will be participating in a group show called “Off the Wall” at the Mirus Gallery. The exhibition will run from April 20th – June 1st, 2013 and the opening reception is Saturday, April 20th from 6-10pm. The show features a plethora of contemporary sculptors that you really should stop and check it out if you’re in the area. Other than that....all I’m doing is working on all my new pieces + a little bit of this, mixed with a little bit of that. Check back soon for some more news, updates and all new work....No, seriously!

12 . 26 . 12

Hi

So....Let me start off by saying, I hope that "almost" everyone had a very nice Holidays & what not, and I most certainly wish "nearly" everyone a safe, a prosperous, and a Happy New Year! 2012 was a decent year for me thankfully and I sincerely appreciate all of YOUR support! That being said, break time is OVER 'round here, and IT as THEY say....is ON! Sorry for the lack of activity in the last little bit as finding, packing up and moving to a bigger, badder, workplace was taxing and a MUST! The new studio is fabulous and will be fully functional and ready for some serious "Arting" in no time. 2013 is right around the corner, sans the Mayan Apocalypse, and I promise there will be lots of interesting new "things" coming up this year including a merch section with t-shirts, prints, stickers & other various goodies including a series of some smaller limited edition original artwork only available on here. Stay tuned for all that as well as more frequent news updates. Lastly, for those of you in Oregon I will be participating in a group show called, "Divergent Strategies" at the Salem Art Assoc. & Bush Barn Art Center in Salem, Oregon. The exhibition will run from Jan. 11th - Feb. 23rd, 2013 and the opening reception is Friday, Jan. 11th from 5-7pm. Please check it out if you're in the area or passing through. Okay....well, other than that, I will be holed up in my studio for the foreseeable future months working on the pieces for my upcoming solo show this July at Spoke Art in S.F., CA. Check back soon for more details on "that", the "things" I spoke of earlier as well as all the other random shit that happens to pop up in "one's" life from day to day, week to week, month to month. "You're the king of nothing.... nothing."

Hey Everyone

Okay...so, HERE IT IS!!! The NEW-ish website!!! Yeah, I know it’s kinda similar to the old one, but NOW it’s actually how I originally wanted it to be the first time. Simple, clean, to the point and fully functional. I want to thank my AMAZING new designers / webmasters over at LOOK SEE DESIGNS here in Portland, OR. so much for all their time, hard work, and their patience with my lack of patience. I highly recommend them for ANY of your graphic design needs! As for “Ronland” well, there has been a few things going on lately so let me get you up to speed. First, I want to THANK everyone so much that took the time out of their busy lives to stop by The Guardino Gallery in NE PDX to check out my most recent exhibition. I really appreciate your time, your support, and your kind words about the show. That is what keeps me going! Thx. Second, I was honored to have one of my pieces “No!...Ahhh No...No!” on the cover of the Willamette Week’s “Fall Arts Guide” a couple weeks ago (Thx Ben!) check it out below. Also, the fine folks over at Beautiful/Decay Magazine did a nice little “somethin’ somethin’” on me just the other day, click HERE for that....and Lastly, I’m on “studio break” for another week or so, so take a look around the new site, visit me over on tumblr (HERE) and as always check back soon for some more senile rhetoric, self-absorbed conjecture, and of course some more “Adult Onset Arts & Crafts” by yours truly. Thank you ALL for your continued support!! Time to blow this Taco Stand. Later.

Hey

Ok, Peoples...Things have been a tad hectic these days. Lot's going on in "Ronland". Firstly, there will be a MAJOR website update and design / functional re-enhancement coming up right around the corner. ALL the new / missing "pieces" will finally be added, as well as some other bells & whistles. Nothing drastic or crazy mind you. Also, I am participating again this year in Grand Central Bowl's "Mixed Media V" exhibition and silent auction. 30 local PDX artists will be doing their "thing" to either a bowling pin or a ball ( I'm doing a BALL this year!! ). ALL proceeds will got to benefit Friends Of Trees here in Portland. Here is a pre-photo of my BALL, as well as some information on the show. Please check back here soon for the "finished" BALL, the website refresher, as well as some other interesting tid bits and activities brewing. Thx for your time.

05 . 05 . 12

Hiya

Just a quick heads up, for those of you in the "Golden State", I will be participating in this year's "SEA NO EVIL" group / benefit art show for the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. The show / auction will be Saturday, June 30th - 6pm at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium in Riverside, CA. There will be feature work by a whole slew of your favorite new contemporary artists as well as some musical entertainment and other festivities. All the money goes to preserving and protecting the oceans of our big blue ball. Ok, gotta go. More to come soon...

04 . 25 . 12

Hi There

Ok, Finally I am finished decompressing & relaxing from my Spoke Art show and I am back in the studio working on a few pieces for a group show I will be part of called, "Recycle, Reuse, Reinvent" @ The Chautauqua institute in the State of New York. The show runs from June 24th - July 19th and the opening reception is Sunday, July 1st from 3-5pm. I'm doing a series of 3 "cases" for this show, and I will be posting some pictures of said pieces in the very near future. Speaking of pictures, I am almost finished editing the pictures of all the new pieces from my recent Spoke Art show in S.F., CA. and they should be up here in the "work /:" section on the site in the not too distant future, in all their glory. Oh, and I almost forgot this....Check out the cool feature / interview I did recently with Istanbul, Turkey based Arts & Culture Magazine: DEFAULT. You should click HERE to read that. Well, I'm off. Let's chat soon, & you can "follow" me a tad more frequently & closely on Tumblr. I bid you good day, Sir....& Ma'am.

03 . 20 . 12

Hi Folks

So tomorrow, Wednesday the 21st & Thursday the 22nd will be the FINAL 2 days to catch my solo show "new works" at Spoke Art in SF, CA. if you haven't done so already. Again, I THANK all of you dearly that came by the gallery and checked it out. There are also still a few remaining pieces left for purchase, please contact the gallery for pricing and other information. Below are 3 more pieces from the show. I promise they will ALL make their way to the "work /:" section eventually with multiple views and close-ups. Also, I recently joined Tumblr and actually enjoy it. You can follow me HERE and I update it daily and unlike Facebook it is actually different than the things you can always find here. Allright kiddies....bunch of stuff coming up in the near future, so stop back soon for all the pertinent info. Titles for pics from left to right:  1. "The Pitman & The Sawyer"  2. "Painting No. 1 (Circles)"  3. "Keepsake: An Archival Deconstruction Of One Heroic Day From The Past". Bye....

'ello

Oh my, I'm still a tad fuzzy & groggy with a bit of an "Artover" from the past month or so, but am slowly getting back to normal and can now almost complete full sentences. I want to start by THANKING anyone and everyone (Especially Ken & Sarah!) in the SF / Bay Area that took time out of their long busy day to come to my Spoke Art opening reception last Thursday evening. Your time, support, and very kind words are much appreciated and dually noted. Aside from being a bit drained and spacey I had a great time again in SF and was generally happy with the overall show, all things considered. Unfortunately I did not get to SFMOMA to checkout the Mark Bradford exhibit....bummer....but, I did get to see Seattle, WA. based artist Mary Iverson's FANTASTIC work in person finally at her show "CALAMITY" in SF at the Shooting Gallery. If you're NOT familiar with her work already, I highly recommend! Well it's about "that" time. I need some more "rest" and the sun is out in Portland today.... soooooooo....Anyhoo, here is a piece I am quite fond of from the Spoke Art show it's titled "Fuck You Pablo" it measures 37.5" x 13" x 5" and is made of a 1930's Harmony Guitar and miscellaneous medium, 2012. (Photos by: Shaun Roberts). I will be posting photos of ALL the new pieces and a few old stragglers in the "WORK /" section in the next few....days, weeks, months!? Also, if you get a chance check out the interview I did recently with Hi-Fructose as well as a few nice thoughtful show reviews just below. Thx.

Ok People, I will be in touch soon....Maybe. C-ya.

Howdy

Uh...Um...Uh...

Ok, so...I'm getting my ducks in a row, wrapping up all the loose ends, & getting ready for my SF show! Seriously, I can't even think anymore. Like always I have spent WAYYYYY too much time cooped up in my studio working and will probably be doing the 'ol spit, shine, polish, and tighten right up to the very last second!? I hope anyone that can make it out to the opening reception at Spoke Art...will do so...or at least try to make it by another time to view the new stuff. Anyone that is interested in previewing / purchasing any of the NEW work or any of the very few remaining older pieces for the matter, please contact Ken or Sarah at: (415)-796-3774 or spokeartgallery@gmail.com. Last but not least here are 3 more "teaser" sampler pics of a few new pieces, but that's it! If you want to see more or the rest, you will have to come to the show or wait for me to post them here on my site!? The choice is yours.

Ps. Here is the "Easing Down, Winding Down, Down the Stretch, Finishing Up, Creative Boosterific" list of sounds that have been keeping it going: Yo La Tengo - "And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out", I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness - "Fear Is On Our Side", Arab Strap - "Elephant Shoe", At The Drive-In - "In Casino Out" & "Relationship Of Command", Y La Bamba - "Court The Storm" , Still Corners - "Creatures Of An Hour", Passion Pit - "Manners"  &  Yuck - "Yuck"

Anyway, I have been doing a little bit of this and a little bit of that lately, but mostly I have been in hibernation mode, hiding out in my studio diligently and meticulously working away at the plethora of pieces for my upcoming solo show at the Spoke Art gallery in San Francisco, CA. The show will run from March 1st - March 22nd and the opening reception is Thursday evening March 1st, 6 - 10pm. Please come out to the opening if you live in or around the Bay Area, or at least try to stop by the gallery at a later date to take in the new works. Spoke Art has regular business hours: Wednesday thru Sunday 12pm - 7pm. Also, if you get a chance to pick up the latest issue of Hi-Fructose #22, check out the very cool full-page Ad for my show on page 15. (Thx Ken!) Ok, gotta get back to "making". I will be posting a few more updates in the very near future, don't fret. Here are a few sample sections of some of the new pieces. Yeah, I'm a tease. I know. Meh!

Ps. Just FYI: This current wave of fanciful creativity and random "Artification" has been fueled & powered by the sounds of: Talkdemonic - "Ruins", Cults - "Cults", The Nowtwist - "Neon Golden" & "Shrink", MeWithoutYou - "Catch For Us The Foxes", M83 - "Saturdays = Youth", Kid Cudi - "Man On The Moon: End Of The Day", The Eaves - "The Eaves", New Order - "Brotherhood" & "Substance", and of course Mogwai - "Special Moves: Live".

Hey there

Just another quick exhibition note for next year, 2012. I will be participating in a group show called "Recycle Reuse Reinvent" at the Chautauqua Institute in New York. I will be showing 3-5 pieces. The show will run from June 26th - July 26th, 2012. I shall post some more details as well as some info on the opening reception in the not so distant future. I am very excited & really honored to be part of an exhibition at the Chautauqua Institute, as I have visited there a couple times while in my teens attending PGSA (Ed Rendell you dumbass!!!) and fell in love with the place / the atmosphere. Ok, I'm off...until I have more. Thanks for listening!

Hello

So...it has been a minute...or 2...since we've last talked.

Hmmmmm!?!? Where to start? Well..."Somehow" now I have a new Facebook artist fan page!?!? Even typing that makes me queasy. But, like my friend Mikey says, "Welcome to 2007, Ron!"...Ha...What a jerk! Anyway, for those of you that are into making Mark Zuckerberg richer and richer you can "like" me here... http://www.facebook.com/RonUlicny ...It's kinda the same as all the stuff I have on HERE but...there.

The San Francisco show went GREAT! The new Spoke Art gallery is quaint, clean, and just an overall nice space. The group show looked fantastic and all the work was top notch. You REALLY should check out the works of Handiedan, Nimit Malavia, & Jonas Lofgren...some of my favorites & impressive stuff!!! I met a lot of really nice folks in SF, ate too much food, bought my friend Sophia a hat, navigated wild stormy seas of European / Asian tourists, and I FINALLY got to check out the SFMOMA!!! Nothing like some Duchamp, Johns, & Theibaud in person.

Lately there has also been some personal logistical maneuvering, some meticulous daily life dabbling, some acute inscrutable intro & retrospection, some planning, some playing, some pausing, and one very unfortunate losing battle with a car while riding mi bicyclette...sans helmet! Uh, Let's just say my artwork ALMOST became worth a lot more! But...Ha!, YOU wish! Not this time! Still here.

And lastly but not leastly...I know it's a little bit early, but I will be showing some all NEW work in September of next year 2012 at the Guardino Gallery on Alberta in the NE. It is a two-person show with myself and pdx photographer Robert Huff. The show will run from August 30th - September 25th, 2012 and the opening reception will be Thursday, August 30th for the NE's "Last Thursday" festivities. I will keep you updated and posted on all the details in the near future. Oh, and don't forget the WORLD is "supposed" to come to an end shortly there after so you should probably see my work in person at least once before you turn to dust. I'm currently back in the studio and making away. See ya.

Hello again

I wanted to let you all know that I recently added 10 NEW pieces to the site, in the "work /" section, so you should swing by there and check them out real quick before you leave. Seriously, you can even easily / quickly navigate there, just by clicking on one of those little picture boxes in the gallery just to the right of the page you are currently reading! No really, Look just to your right!...Also, here is a picture of an illustration I recently did for the upcoming issue of the Willamette Week. It was for an article combining a beer can festival and some sort of supehero-something-or-other thingy!? Anyway, check it out. I introduce to you...BEER CAN MAN. Feature film and merchandising line to follow, soon.

Enjoy your 4th of July holiday kiddies! Later.

P.S.  just f.y.i. "The Nighttime Arborist" won "best in show" for the Grand Central / PDX Pop Now! show. Many THANKS to anyone that voted for me. I appreciate your support, a lot. Oh, & lastly...if the "PERSON" who happened to have won / bought said  "Arborist / Bowling Pin" piece, by for some odd chance, happens to be READING THIS! Could you PLEASE email me at your earliest convenience!? Thank you!

Hi there

So...

Here is my "bowling pin" for the Grand Central Bowl / PDX Pop Now! Art Fundraiser. It's titled "The Nighttime Arborist". The opening reception is coming up this Friday Night, June 24th from 8-11pm @ Grand Central Bowl. There will be a silent auction for all the pins & YOU really should go and bid on "my" pin because not only will you find solace in the fact that I will NOT be receiving one red cent, but all the money is going to a good / local cause in PDX Pop Now! Oh, and I almost forgot....photos of all the NEW pieces (10 or so) from my recent show @ G.C.A.C. will be going up on the site, very soon in the "work" gallery section. Okay, THANKS much for stopping by. That's it. For now!

Howdy

Just a quick FYI, I will be participating in Grand Central Bowl's "Mixed Media IV" Art Fundraiser for PDX Pop Now! 35 local Portland artists will be designing bowling pins, which will be auctioned off with money going to support PDX Pop Now! There will be an opening reception featuring all the finished pins @ Grand Central Bowl on Friday, June 24th 8-11pm. I picked up my freshly painted white pin today (see pic) and will be doing my "thing" to it very shortly. Stay tuned for a finished pic and some more info on the opening. Oh, and I know it says "painted" pins, but I can assure you that I will hardly be painting mine with wannabe "Mark Ryden" style people, graffiti, cartoon animals, or any of the other various illustrative same old, same olds. Blah. Thee end.

Greetings

One of my favorite pieces from the G.C.A.C. show. It's called "Murder Ballad". Bye now.

Hola

I just wanted to take a quick minute to say a million Thank Yous to everyone that came to my opening at G.C.A.C. last night. I really appreciate all of your time and support. It was a amazing night of family, friends, art and was a lot of fun, even though I was completely wiped out & slightly off-kilter from all the preemptive hard work. Janice Lowry & Bale Creek Allen's shows both looked great and ALL of the folks that work at & run Grand Central Art Center were so very kind and ever so helpful. If you weren't able to make it to the opening reception you can still check out the exhibit until May 29th and the gallery's regular hours of operation, are Tuesday thru Sunday 11am-4pm (Fri./Sat. till 7pm). There is still some work available for purchase and you can contact: Tracey Gayer at: tgayer@fullerton.edu or  714-567-7238 if you're interested or have any questions. Okay, here are a few pics of some of the new pieces. I will be adding all the new work to my website in the very near future. Well, Los Angeles is already starting to wear on my last nerve...but...I'm going to endure the smog, the traffic, the scientologists, and the rotten stench of the "Entertainment Industry" so I can go see Mogwai & one of my new favorite bands...Errors at the Mayan Theatre. Happy Happy Joy Joy!!

p.s....Learn to swim...

Hey

Long time, no talk to!?...

Hmmmm!? Um...uh...well...um...Nothing "special" I have just been working so much harder than a beaver, for quite an extended period of time now on some new pieces for my upcoming GCAC show in May. No, really my "friend" Pete said I'm starting to act weird and tries to pry me from my studio as much as possible. Anyway...in the meantime I thought I would share a photo of my solo "rooster" piece from the group exhibition I'm partaking in @ The Club Gallery down in Santa Barbara, CA. for their 2nd Fridays Art At TCSB. The opening reception is drawing ever so near and is on Friday, April 8th 5:30-7:30pm. So if you live in or near the S.B. area (Christie & Joel this does mean YOU!) please go check it out in-person and it will look much better than here on the interweb. "One" could also check out the collaborations I did with Dan Levin while at said exhibit, as well as an eclectic & fantastical collection of "rooster" work by some other really great artists too. Here is mine. The title is "pneuma". It is made of miscellaneous medium. It measures about 15" x 6" x 9". It is available for purchase. Back to the Lab. Bye now.

Hello Folks

Welcome to my new website and thank you for visiting. If I were "you", I would be expecting the random & timely additions of new artwork / possible exhibition updates / oh so pertinent information / as well as the occasional and non-sensical musings of an aging, lower-middle class, white male. Yikes! Maybe you should just ignore me and look at the pictures!? Anyways, enjoy...or not.

oh...and I almost forgot...there is this!
