Howdy / :
Uh…Um…Uh…
Ok, so…I’m getting my ducks in a row, wrapping up all the loose ends, & getting ready for my SF show! Seriously, I can’t even think anymore. Like always I have spent WAYYYYY too much time cooped up in my studio working and will probably be doing the ‘ol spit, shine, polish, and tighten right up to the very last second!? I hope anyone that can make it out to the opening reception at Spoke Art…will do so…or at least try to make it by another time to view the new stuff. Anyone that is interested in previewing / purchasing any of the NEW work or any of the very few remaining older pieces for the matter, please contact Ken or Sarah at: (415)-796-3774 or spokeartgallery@gmail.com. Last but not least here are 3 more “teaser” sampler pics of a few new pieces, but that’s it! If you want to see more or the rest, you will have to come to the show or wait for me to post them here on my site!? The choice is yours.
Ps. Here is the “Easing Down, Winding Down, Down the Stretch, Finishing Up, Creative Boosterific” list of sounds that have been keeping it going: Yo La Tengo – “And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out”, I Love You But I’ve Chosen Darkness - “Fear Is On Our Side”, Arab Strap – “Elephant Shoe”, At The Drive-In - “In Casino Out” & “Relationship Of Command”, Y La Bamba – “Court The Storm” , Still Corners – “Creatures Of An Hour”, Passion Pit – “Manners” & Yuck – “Yuck”
Greetings / :
Here are 3 more teaser samples of some new pieces for the Spoke Art show. Back to work. Bye.
Hello / :
Wow!…So, it’s 2012 Huh!?
Imagine that.
Anyway, I have been doing a little bit of this and a little bit of that lately, but mostly I have been in hibernation mode, hiding out in my studio diligently and meticulously working away at the plethora of pieces for my upcoming solo show at the Spoke Art gallery in San Francisco, CA. The show will run from March 1st – March 22nd and the opening reception is Thursday evening March 1st, 6 – 10pm. Please come out to the opening if you live in or around the Bay Area, or at least try to stop by the gallery at a later date to take in the new works. Spoke Art has regular business hours: Wednesday thru Sunday 12pm – 7pm. Also, if you get a chance to pick up the latest issue of Hi-Fructose #22, check out the very cool full-page Ad for my show on page 15. (Thx Ken!) Ok, gotta get back to “making”. I will be posting a few more updates in the very near future, don’t fret. Here are a few sample sections of some of the new pieces. Yeah, I’m a tease. I know. Meh!
Ps. Just FYI: This current wave of fanciful creativity and random “Artification” has been fueled & powered by the sounds of: Talkdemonic – “Ruins”, Cults – “Cults”, The Nowtwist – “Neon Golden” & “Shrink”, MeWithoutYou – “Catch For Us The Foxes”, M83 – “Saturdays = Youth”, Kid Cudi – “Man On The Moon: End Of The Day”, The Eaves – “The Eaves”, New Order - “Brotherhood” & “Substance”, and of course Mogwai – “Special Moves: Live”.
Hi / :
Well, well, well…One more exhibition notice regarding next year (2012). I will be having a solo exhibition at the Spoke Art gallery in San Francisco, CA. The show will feature some new pieces I’m working on and will run from March 1st – March 22nd, 2012. The opening reception will be Thursday, March 1st from 6-10pm at the gallery. I will post some more details and teaser photos shortly. Gotta go. Thx.
Hey there / :
Just another quick exhibition note for next year, 2012. I will be participating in a group show called “Recycle Reuse Reinvent” at the Chautauqua Institute in New York. I will be showing 3-5 pieces. The show will run from June 26th – July 26th, 2012. I shall post some more details as well as some info on the opening reception in the not so distant future. I am very excited & really honored to be part of an exhibition at the Chautauqua Institute, as I have visited there a couple times while in my teens attending PGSA (Ed Rendell you dumbass!!!) and fell in love with the place / the atmosphere. Ok, I’m off…until I have more. Thanks for listening!
Hello / :
So…it has been a minute…or 2…since we’ve last talked.
Hmmmmm!?!? Where to start? Well…”Somehow” now I have a new Facebook artist fan page!?!? Even typing that makes me queasy. But, like my friend Mikey says, “Welcome to 2007, Ron!”…Ha…What a jerk! Anyway, for those of you that are into making Mark Zuckerberg richer and richer you can “like” me here… http://www.facebook.com/RonUlicny …It’s kinda the same as all the stuff I have on HERE but…there.
The San Francisco show went GREAT! The new Spoke Art gallery is quaint, clean, and just an overall nice space. The group show looked fantastic and all the work was top notch. You REALLY should check out the works of Handiedan, Nimit Malavia, & Jonas Lofgren…some of my favorites & impressive stuff!!! I met a lot of really nice folks in SF, ate too much food, bought my friend Sophia a hat, navigated wild stormy seas of European / Asian tourists, and I FINALLY got to check out the SFMOMA!!! Nothing like some Duchamp, Johns, & Theibaud in person.
Lately there has also been some personal logistical maneuvering, some meticulous daily life dabbling, some acute inscrutable intro & retrospection, some planning, some playing, some pausing, and one very unfortunate losing battle with a car while riding mi bicyclette…sans helmet! Uh, Let’s just say my artwork ALMOST became worth a lot more! But…Ha!, YOU wish! Not this time! Still here.
And lastly but not leastly…I know it’s a little bit early, but I will be showing some all NEW work in September of next year 2012 at the Guardino Gallery on Alberta in the NE. It is a two-person show with myself and pdx photographer Robert Huff. The show will run from August 30th – September 25th, 2012 and the opening reception will be Thursday, August 30th for the NE’s “Last Thursday“ festivities. I will keep you updated and posted on all the details in the near future. Oh, and don’t forget the WORLD is “supposed” to come to an end shortly there after so you should probably see my work in person at least once before you turn to dust. I’m currently back in the studio and making away. See ya.
Hiya / :
Well…SEE! This is why you should be checking the “news / :” section here quite frequently!!! Hello again / :
I wanted to let you all know that I recently added 10 NEW pieces to the site, in the “work /” section, so you should swing by there and check them out real quick before you leave. Seriously, you can even easily / quickly navigate there, just by clicking on one of those little picture boxes in the gallery just to the right of the page you are currently reading! No really, Look just to your right!…Also, here is a picture of an illustration I recently did for the upcoming issue of the Willamette Week. It was for an article combining a beer can festival and some sort of supehero-something-or-other thingy!? Anyway, check it out. I introduce to you…BEER CAN MAN. Feature film and merchandising line to follow, soon.
Enjoy your 4th of July holiday kiddies! Later.
P.S. just f.y.i. “The Nighttime Arborist” won “best in show” for the Grand Central / PDX Pop Now! show. Many THANKS to anyone that voted for me. I appreciate your support, a lot. Oh, & lastly…if the “PERSON” who happened to have won / bought said ”Arborist / Bowling Pin” piece, by for some odd chance, happens to be READING THIS! Could you PLEASE email me at your earliest convenience!? Thank you!

Hi There / :
So…
Here is my “bowling pin” for the Grand Central Bowl / PDX Pop Now! Art Fundraiser. It’s titled “The Nighttime Arborist”. The opening reception is coming up this Friday Night, June 24th from 8-11pm @ Grand Central Bowl. There will be a silent auction for all the pins & YOU really should go and bid on “my” pin because not only will you find solace in the fact that I will NOT be receiving one red cent, but all the money is going to a good / local cause in PDX Pop Now! Oh, and I almost forgot….photos of all the NEW pieces (10 or so) from my recent show @ G.C.A.C. will be going up on the site, very soon in the “work” gallery section. Okay, THANKS much for stopping by. That’s it. For now!
Howdy… / :
Just a quick FYI, I will be participating in Grand Central Bowl’s “Mixed Media IV” Art Fundraiser for PDX Pop Now! 35 local Portland artists will be designing bowling pins, which will be auctioned off with money going to support PDX Pop Now! There will be an opening reception featuring all the finished pins @ Grand Central Bowl on Friday, June 24th 8-11pm. I picked up my freshly painted white pin today (see pic) and will be doing my “thing” to it very shortly. Stay tuned for a finished pic and some more info on the opening. Oh, and I know it says “painted” pins, but I can assure you that I will hardly be painting mine with wannabe “Mark Ryden” style people, graffiti, cartoon animals, or any of the other various illustrative same old, same olds. Blah. Thee end.
Uh Huh… / :
Oh, you know who you are…
” and give my regards to whoever…whoever mattered more than this did…you must have done something right!”

Hello Folks / :
Welcome to my new website and thank you for visiting. If I were “you“, I would be expecting the random & timely additions of new artwork / possible exhibition updates / oh so pertinent information / as well as the occasional and non-sensical musings of an aging, lower-middle class, white male. Yikes! Maybe you should just ignore me and look at the pictures!? Anyways, enjoy…or not.
oh…and I almost forgot…there is this!
